Services

ICC offers a wide range of services. Our staff is available to assist individuals, groups, couples and families, including bi-cultural couples and families, experiencing such problems as: cultural adjustment, depression, anxiety, life style and career transitions, relationship or marriage problems, child and adolescent development or school related problems, physical and sexual abuse, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, eating disorders, panic attacks, substance abuse related issues, or any other problem for which one would normally seek counseling.
Our initial assessment session is usually 1½ hours. At that session a provisional plan, including the frequency of sessions, is discussed. Because of distance or travel time and expense, some people find 2-hour sessions once or twice a month preferable to weekly sessions. We try to be flexible enough to accommodate our clients' needs. We realize that some foreigners live too far from Kobe, Osaka or Kyoto to make regular trips for therapy practicable, so we try to be flexible.
In special circumstances ICC is willing to make arrangements for telephone counseling, although it is not our preferred medium.
We have not yet ventured into on-line counseling, but we might try if it is the only option
