Confidentiality

In order for psychotherapy to be effective, there must be trust between the client and the therapist. To this end, all the ICC counseling services and inquiries are strictly confidential. Our standards are the same as those of professional mental health organizations in the United States or any other western country.
That means that no acknowledgement will be made to anyone that a person is coming for treatment or has even inquired about it, unless we have written permission from that person.
Also, no information will be shared with other people involved in the person's life without his or her permission.
The only exceptions will be the legally mandated ones that arise when a person is deemed to be a danger to him/herself or others.
If your therapist wishes to share information with others, whether they be other professionals involved in your life, family members or people involved in your employment, this will be thoroughly discussed with you and will not be done without your written consent.
